The Beginning of the End

What happens when a nation experiences rapid political chaos and moral decay? In 2nd Kings 15, we enter a turbulent chapter of biblical history. Northern Israel spirals out of control through a succession of short-lived, violent kings—characterized by conspiracy, assassination, and spiritual compromise—while Assyria looms on the horizon as a rising superpower.

Meanwhile, in Judah, King Uzziah (Azariah) reigns for 52 years, bringing military strength and outward prosperity. Yet even Uzziah’s long reign is marred by pride, leading to the judgment of leprosy. Through the chaos of political turnover and the flaws of earthly rulers, this chapter points us toward a profound truth: human leaders will always fail, but God’s sovereign plan and His promises to His people remain entirely unshakable. Jesus is the true King of kings and the only one we can truly put our hope in.
