The Fall of Jezebel

Jul 15, 2026    Brad Hainje

The patience of God is vast, but His justice is absolute. In 2 Kings 9, the long-prophesied judgment against the house of Ahab continues to unfold with terrifying precision. For decades, Ahab and Jezebel led Israel into systemic idolatry, corruption, and the shedding of innocent blood. Now, the Lord raises up a furious instrument of His wrath: Jehu.

In this week’s sermon, we follow the young prophet sent by Elisha to secretly anoint Jehu as king, setting off a rapid, bloody coup. From the fields of Jezreel to the final, sobering downfall of Jezebel, this chapter serves as a stark reminder that no one mocks God and escapes and that All of us truly deserve the same judgment Jezebel received. Join us as we examine what this dark chapter reveals about God's holiness, His perfect timing, and the terrifying cost of unrepentant sin.
