Romans 12:9-21

Genuine Love: Paul emphasizes that our love should be agape (unconditional) and devoid of hypocrisy or "play-acting." Authentic love is rooted in God and should be sincere, avoiding the "wax" of insincerity.

Moral Character: Believers are called to "abhor what is evil" and "cling to what is good." This involves guarding one's heart and maintaining a standard of holiness, even when surrounded by a secular culture.

Serving and Honoring Others: We are encouraged to be devoted to one another in brotherly love, outdoing each other in showing honor, and looking after the interests of others above our own (Philippians 2:3-4).

Diligence and Fervor: The teaching highlights the importance of not being slothful in our service to the Lord. We should be "fervent in spirit," remaining committed even during trials or when we don't "feel" like it.

Practical Compassion: A central theme is the command to "rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep." The pastor models this by leading the congregation in prayer for a member, Neil Brinkerhoff, who recently lost his wife.

Overcoming Evil with Good: Rather than seeking revenge or paying back evil for evil, believers are instructed to bless their persecutors and overcome evil through acts of kindness and good deeds.
